The closing ceremony of Step Up

The closing ceremony of ‘Step Up’ project was held at the Westin Hotel in Dhaka on 12 November. Honorable Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, MP attended the program as the chief guest. BGMEA President Md. Siddiqur Rahman chaired the event.

FBCCI President Md. Shafiul Islam, Deputy Head of Mission of the Danish Embassy in Bangladesh Refika Hayta, BGMEA Vice President (Finance) Mohammed Nasir and CEO of Dansk Fashion and Textile Thomas Klausen also attended the ceremony.

2nd session Dissemination of learning among invited RMG factories; here Prof. Peter Hasle, Aalborg University has Presented a presentation on The Relation Between Working Conditions and Productivity in Bangladesh RMG. Ms. Sofie Pedersen, Step Up Project manager and Mr. Md. Anik Islam, Project coordinator also attended the 2nd session.

Step Up project was launched in 2016 to improve productivity and CSR practices in the RMG industry of Bangladesh. The Danish textile and fashion employer associations – Dansk Fashion & Textile (Lead), Danish Chamber of Commerce / WEAR and Danish Fashion Institute – in cooperation with the BGMEA implemented the project, which was financed by Danish development agency DANIDA.
